Wayfarers to God - A Sisters Series on Suluk

This month's Wayfarers to God with Sayyida Nejma Davis, we had sisters drive to join us from Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, New Jersey, and Maryland. May Allah reward everyone who attended for their efforts and grant them ease in their journeys.

May Allah make these gatherings a source of enlightenment, growth, and spiritual nourishment for all involved.

'Wayfarers to God: A Sister’s Series on Suluk' by Habib Ali Al-Jifri, facilitated by Sayyida Nejma Davis, serves as a comprehensive guide for all those on a journey of Spiritual Wayfaring or Suluk. Rooted in principles of self-reflection and sincere effort, this lecture series gently navigates the intricacies of understanding the nafs (ego) and the detrimental impact it can have. Habib Ali Al-Jifri sheds light on the path to liberating oneself from the nafs, delving into the exploration of base desires, evil inclinations, and diseases of the heart. His approach resonates deeply, permeating the soul and igniting a call to action.

This is a ladies (16+) only class.

Jalsa al-Awwabin

Imam al-Haddad’s works have a powerful impact on the heart, which is why he is known as “Haddad al-Qulub,” the “Heartsmith.”  Jalsa al-Awwabin is a biannual gathering of Quranic recitation, brief readings from Imam al-Haddad's various books, and devotional poetry.  We were honored to have Dr.  Shadee Elmasry and his community in attendance.

MashAllah they were on a Rihla with a group of young students. It was an honor to host them and we pray that Allah facilitates many future visits for His sake ﷻ.

reading of Sahih al-Bukhari

Sahih al-Bukhari is the most authentic book after the Quran, compiled by the renowned Hadith scholar Imam Muhammad ibn Isma'il al-Bukhari. It is one of the six canonical Hadith collections.

We are excited to announce a complete reading of Sahih al-Bukhari at Al-Maqasid from August 20 to 30.

Participants will complete the reading with our beloved teacher Shaykh Samer Al-Nass, a renowned scholar from Damascus, Syria. Those who finish will receive an ijaza from Shaykh Samer, connecting them to the Prophet's ﷺ teachings with a valid chain of transmission through Imam al-Bukhari.

This is a rare opportunity to get the reward of reading the entire collection of Hadith in Sahih Bukhari. We look forward to seeing you there InshAllah.

LOVING THE BELOVED ﷺ

This weekly Majlis includes a recitation of the prophetic biography in poetry form followed by a counsel intended to connect the listener to the Prophet ﷺ and his teachings. The more we know about his life, character, and way, the more we will come to love and follow the one beloved to Allah.

The Greatness of Blessings - Yahya Rhodus

"The pitfall of blessings is becoming accustomed to them."

Often, we don't realize the greatness of blessings until they are taken from us. It is the affair of the believer, who knows the true way of gratitude and thankfulness, to be aware and conscious of the blessings that Allah bestows upon us.

As Allah says in the Quran: "And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, 'If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]'" (Quran 14:7).

The Ultimate Guide - Yusuf Weltch

When Allah speaks of guidance in the Quran, there are two types of guidance mentioned. One type involves showing the person the path, and the other involves actually taking them there. As Allah says in the Quran: "Indeed, [O Muhammad], you do not guide whom you like, but Allah guides whom He wills. And He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided" (Quran 28:56).

JUMU’A KHUTBA

The weekly Jumu'a, or Friday, Congregational prayer is live streamed from Al-Maqasid from 12:15pm-1:10pm.

Devoting Oneself to Allah - yahya rhodus

“Right before death that ability to intervene with our intellect goes, and then it’s how you’ve conditioned your heart throughout the course of your life that then takes over.”

Our beloved Messenger ﷺ taught us that we die according to the way in which we lived, and that we are ultimately people of the Hereafter. In this khutba, Yahya Rhodus highlights several verses in the Quran (6:162-63, 2:186) to explain how to devote oneself to Allah Ta’ala in this life hoping for a husna khatima (or good ending).

Yahya also explains that meaning of the phrase doing something “only through Allah,” the two principles upon which Islam is based, and the significance of the Divine Name Al-Qareeb.
