﷽
As-Salaamu ‘Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,
The Prophet ﷺ would exert himself in worship more during Ramadan than in any other time of the year, and even more so during the blessed last ten nights. He ﷺ would engage in spiritual retreat (iʿtikāf) at the masjid and spend the entire night in worship. He ﷺ also taught us that the Night of Great Worth—Laylat al-Qadr—falls within these last ten nights.
We invite you to join us for our Last Ten Nights Qiyam Program—a spiritually uplifting gathering filled with night prayers, reflection, and a study of Heaven Explored by Sayyid Muhammad Alawi al-Maliki.
✨ Qiyam (30 mins)
✨ Salat al-Tasbih (30 mins)
✨ Lesson from Heaven Explored (30 mins)
✨ Suhur (30 mins)
✨ Pre-Fajr Awrad
Feel free to bring your Suhur with you—we’ll have dates and water available for everyone to enjoy together.
Please Note: Due to ongoing construction and limited space this year, we are unable to host Iʿtikāf. We truly appreciate your understanding and look forward to welcoming you next year, insha’Allah, in an improved and expanded setting.
🕰 Al-Maqasid will be closed nightly from 12:30 AM – 3:00 AM during the last ten nights of Ramadan.
We look forward to spending these blessed nights with you. May Allah allow us all to witness Laylat al-Qadr and draw nearer to Him through our worship.

Tafsir Sura al-Qasas
Sura al-Qasas (The Whole Story), the 28th Sura of the Quran, focuses primarily on the story of Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) and the Pharaoh, as well as the story of Qārūn. These Quranic narratives teach us, among other things, the dangers of worldly power and attachment to wealth. Through these stories, Sura al-Qasas also elucidates the absolute supremacy of Allah's will and authority.
This series attempts to reflect on some of the wisdoms found within the endless ocean of Quranic meaning. We ask Allah ﷻ to make the Quran a means for strengthening our faith, a guide for us through tribulations, and a key to opening for us the greatest treasuries of divine knowledge.
Lesson 5: Verses 18-24 - Turning to Allah ﷻ
And so Moses became fearful, watching out in the city, when suddenly the one who sought his help the day before cried out to him again for help. Moses rebuked him, “Indeed, you are clearly a trouble-maker.” Then when Moses was about to lay his hands on their foe,1 the enemy said, “O Moses! Do you intend to kill me as you killed a man yesterday? You only want to be a tyrant in the land. You do not intend to make peace!”
And there came a man, rushing from the farthest end of the city. He said, “O Moses! The chiefs are actually conspiring against you to put you to death, so leave ˹the city˺. I really advise you ˹to do so˺.”
So Moses left the city in a state of fear and caution, praying, “My Lord! Deliver me from the wrongdoing people.” And as he made his way towards Midian, he said, “I trust my Lord will guide me to the right way.”
When he arrived at the well of Midian, he found a group of people watering ˹their herds˺. Apart from them, he noticed two women holding back ˹their herd˺. He asked ˹them˺, “What is the matter?” They replied, “We cannot water ˹our animals˺ until the ˹other˺ shepherds are done, for our father is a very old man.” So he watered ˹their herd˺ for them, then withdrew to the shade and prayed, “My Lord! I am truly in ˹desperate˺ need of whatever provision You may have in store for me.”
Lesson 6: Verses 23-28 | Prophet Musa Gets Married
When he arrived at the well of Midian, he found a group of people watering ˹their herds˺. Apart from them, he noticed two women holding back ˹their herd˺. He asked ˹them˺, “What is the matter?” They replied, “We cannot water ˹our animals˺ until the ˹other˺ shepherds are done, for our father is a very old man.” So he watered ˹their herd˺ for them, then withdrew to the shade and prayed, “My Lord! I am truly in ˹desperate˺ need of whatever provision You may have in store for me.”
Then one of the two women came to him, walking bashfully. She said, “My father is inviting you so he may reward you for watering ˹our animals˺ for us.” When Moses came to him and told him his whole story, the old man said, “Have no fear! You are ˹now˺ safe from the wrongdoing people.”
One of the two daughters suggested, “O my dear father! Hire him. A strong, trustworthy person is definitely the best to hire.” The old man proposed, “I wish to marry one of these two daughters of mine to you, provided that you stay in my service for eight years. If you complete ten, it will be ˹a favor˺ from you, but I do not wish to make it difficult for you. Allah willing, you will find me an agreeable man.” Moses responded, “˹Then˺ it is ˹settled˺ between you and I. Whichever term I fulfill, there will be no ˹further˺ obligation on me. And Allah is a Witness to what we say.”
