Join us on July 4th for the international book launch of “The Kingdom of the Heart” by Habib Umar Bin Hafiz.
More details at https://www.bradfordlitfest.co.uk/event/the-kingdom-of-the-heart/

"Within every human being is a Kingdom. The heart is the ruler of this Kingdom, and the rest of the body are its subjects. If the heart rules with justice and excellence, the body will perform good actions and the Kingdom will flourish. If, however, the heart neglects its duties, the body will be in a state of disobedience to Allah ﷻ and the entire Kingdom will suffer the consequences. Allah made this Kingdom so crucial that through it the eternal and everlasting dominion of the next life is either gained or lost."

The Kingdom of the Heart by Habib 'Umar Bin Ḥafīẓ gives the reader a deeper understanding of the importance of cultivating the spiritual kingdom of the heart. Readers will gain a deeper appreciation into how outward actions have spiritual consequences. Some of the topics covered are:

  • The Tongue & Its Effects

  • Looking at Creation with Love & Mercy

  • The Impact of Shaking Hands

  • Attending to the Ending of Our Lives

  • The Impact of Intention

This book uniquely shows the direct correlation between outward actions and the heart, giving us insights into how various actions impact the state of our hearts. Ultimately, it gives us a way to internalize the wisdom and purpose of acts of devotion, resulting in the purification of the heart and nearness to Allah ﷻ.

Upcoming programs

InshaAllah the next session of "Wayfarers to God - A Sisters Series on Suluk" will take place this Saturday, June 29th from 11-1 pm with Sayyida Nejma Davis at Al-Maqasid in the Green Barn.

'Wayfarers to God: A Sister’s Series on Suluk' by Habib Ali Al-Jifri, facilitated by Sayyida Nejma Davis, serves as a comprehensive guide for all those on a journey of Spiritual Wayfaring or Suluk. Rooted in principles of self-reflection and sincere effort, this lecture series gently navigates the intricacies of understanding the nafs (ego) and the detrimental impact it can have. Habib Ali Al-Jifri sheds light on the path to liberating oneself from the nafs, delving into the exploration of base desires, evil inclinations, and diseases of the heart. His approach resonates deeply, permeating the soul and igniting a call to action.

Please feel free to contribute to a light potluck for the gathering by bringing refreshments, tea, fruit, pastries, etc.

This is a ladies (16+) only class.

LOVING THE BELOVED ﷺ

This weekly Majlis includes a recitation of the prophetic biography in poetry form followed by a counsel intended to connect the listener to the Prophet ﷺ and his teachings. The more we know about his life, character, and way, the more we will come to love and follow the one beloved to Allah.

The Transformation of Hajj - Yusuf Weltch

The Jahiliyyah Arabs, the pre-Islamic Arabs, had a form of Hajj. However, because they had lost the authentic Hajj, they also lost some of its true elements and added some that were false. Consequently, they lost the true meaning of Hajj. Even the timing of the Hajj was changed; they would adjust it to coincide with the market season so that when everyone came to Mecca, all the goods would be ready for them to buy. It became a transactional event.

Reallocating the sanctity of ˹these˺ months1 is an increase in disbelief, by which the disbelievers are led ˹far˺ astray. They adjust the sanctity one year and uphold it in another, only to maintain the number of months sanctified by Allah, violating the very months Allah has made sacred. Their evil deeds have been made appealing to them. And Allah does not guide the disbelieving people. (Quran 9:37)

Rejoicing in the Prophet ﷺ - Hasan Petrus

Al-`Abbas said: When Abu Lahab died, I saw him in my dream after some time, in an evil state. He said to me, “I have not received any rest since your passing, except that the punishment is lightened for me every Monday.”

This is because the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was born on a Monday. The servant girl Thuwaibah gave Abu Lahab the glad tidings of his birth, and in response to this, Abu Lahab freed her.

Life without Prayer - Imam Rasul Suluki

“When you’re Muslim and the Dunya becomes your goal, you totally miss the point of what this life is about.”

ٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّمَا ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنْيَا لَعِبٌۭ وَلَهْوٌۭ وَزِينَةٌۭ

Know that this worldly life is no more than play, amusement, and luxury…. (57:20)

The Greatest Gift - Atiba Salem Jones

“Where would we be without his example ﷺ ? Where would we be without his presence on the earth ﷺ? We would be lost, we would be misguided.”

We share this light with the people of this land; we share this light wherever there is darkness. May Allah allow us to embody this light and be people who spread this light.

JUMU’A KHUTBA

The weekly Jumu'a, or Friday, Congregational prayer is live streamed from Al-Maqasid from 12:15pm-1:10pm.

The Realities of Blessings and Hardships - yusuf weltch

“Our job is not to seek out what we think is best for us: our job is to respond to whatever Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala, gives us in the way that is pleasing to Allah. That is the idea of the test.

Citing numerous verses from the Quran and Hadith, Yusuf Weltch explains why ease is not a criterion for Allah’s love, nor is hardship a criterion for His wrath.

Yusuf also discusses how to know one’s status with Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala, how to show gratitude to Allah, and the special faith of the Palestinians.

Paradise within Paradise

This is a prayer upon the Prophet ﷺ  composed by Habib Ali al-Jifri (may Allah protect him and benefit us by him)

Allahumma salli ‘ala sayyidina Muhammad jannat’il-jannah wa uns al-ins wa junnat’il-jinnah wa ‘alahi wa sahbihi wa sallim

O Allah, bestow prayers and peace upon our Master Muhammad, the Paradise of Paradise, the one who brings comfort to men and is a protection from the Jinn and upon his Family and Companions.

In this beautifully and subtly worded salat, Habib Ali teaches us that being with the Prophet ﷺ is the greatest part of Paradise, or Paradise within Paradise. The concern of the Prophet’s close Companions was not Jannah itself as much as being in the company of the Prophet in Jannah. When a great man was once asked to describe the pleasures of Paradise, he simply said: “The Messenger of Allah is there.” The Prophet’s physical presence brought comfort to those around him, and his spiritual presence and teachings continue to bring peace and comfort to his followers and humankind as a whole. With the revelation of the Quran, a barrier was put in place that prevented the Jinn from accessing the heavenly realm. Likewise, the Prophet’s teachings are also a shield or a protection from the hidden harm of the Jinn.
