UPCOMING PROGRAMS

The Quest for Virtuous Character is a concise yet profound treatise on the virtues of noble character, its defining signs, and the traits that contradict it. Drawing from the works of esteemed scholars such as Imam al-Ghazali, it offers thoughtful reflections on embodying praiseworthy qualities, deeply rooted in Islamic teachings.

This work was authored by Habib Muhammad al-Haddar (may Allah have mercy on him), a distinguished scholar, spiritual guide, and saint from the noble lineage of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Renowned for his profound knowledge, wisdom, and piety, he was a shining light of Islamic scholarship and an exemplar of noble character. Habib Muhammad devoted his life to guiding people to Allah, nurturing future Muslim scholars, and sharing timeless wisdom.

The Quest for Virtuous Character was taught by Habib Muhammad al-Haddar to his daughter, Hababa Nur, who later passed it on to our esteemed teacher, Sayyida Hafsa Ba-Alawi.

The Quest for Virtuous Character with Sayyida Hafsa Ba-Alawi will begin on Saturday, December 21st, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at the Al-Maqasid Green Barn, in sha’ Allah.

MEDIA HIGHLIGHTS

LOVING THE BELOVED ﷺ

This weekly Majlis includes a recitation of the prophetic biography in poetry form followed by a counsel intended to connect the listener to the Prophet ﷺ and his teachings. The more we know about his life, character, and way, the more we will come to love and follow the one beloved to Allah.

Acting Upon Knowledge - Yahya Rhodus

“The reality is, if we have just a little bit of knowledge but put that knowledge into practice, it will suffice us.”

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ  emphasized the importance of not only acquiring knowledge but acting upon it.

“The feet of the son of Adam will not move on the Day of Judgment until he is asked about five things: his life and how he spent it, his youth and how he used it, his wealth and how he earned it and spent it, and how he acted upon what he knew.” (Sunan al-Tirmidhi)

This highlights the reality that it is not the quantity of knowledge that matters but the sincerity and consistency with which we apply it. Allah says in the Quran: “And those who strive for Us—We will surely guide them to Our ways. And indeed, Allah is with the doers of good.” (Sura Al-‘Ankabut, 29:69)

A small amount of knowledge practiced consistently can transform a person’s life and draw them closer to Allah.

“The most beloved deeds to Allah are those done consistently, even if they are small.” (Sahih al-Bukhari & Sahih Muslim)

Celebrating the Love of the Prophet ﷺ - Amjad Tarsin

In these gatherings, we witness a beautiful manifestation of Allah’s blessings as diverse hearts are united in celebrating the love of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Despite the trials of our times, these moments of collective remembrance serve as a beacon of hope and a reminder of Allah’s guidance.

Allah says in the Quran:
“Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who have believed, ask [Allah to confer] blessings upon him and ask [for him] peace.” (Surah Al-Ahzab, 33:56)

The love of the Prophet ﷺ is not merely a sentiment but a call to action, inspiring us to embody his teachings and strive for the ideals of compassion, justice, and mercy that he exemplified. His life was a mercy to all of creation, and through honoring him, we connect ourselves to the mercy of Allah.

The Prophet ﷺ said:
“None of you will have faith until I am more beloved to him than his father, his children, and all of mankind.”(Sahih Muslim)

The Journey Toward Meeting Allah - Auzair Khilwati

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ came as a guide, equipping us with the tools necessary for success in this life and in our ultimate meeting with our Creator. This meeting with Allah is the pinnacle of a believer’s journey, as Allah reminds us:

“Whoever hopes for the meeting with Allah—indeed, the term decreed by Allah is coming. And He is the Hearing, the Knowing.” (Sura Al-‘Ankabut, 29:5)

Through his teachings, the Prophet ﷺ left us a legacy of Iman, acts of worship, and ethical conduct that prepares us for this momentous occasion. He taught us to maintain a strong connection with Allah through prayer, as he said:

“The first matter that the slave will be brought to account for on the Day of Judgment is the prayer. If it is sound, then the rest of his deeds will be sound. And if it is corrupt, then the rest of his deeds will be corrupt.” (Sunan al-Tirmidhi)

JUMU’A KHUTBA

The weekly Jumu'a, or Friday, Congregational prayer is live streamed from Al-Maqasid from 12:15pm-1:10pm.

Returning to Allah with a Whole Heart - Yahya Rhodus

“We are people of obedience…We are people of submission. We knowingly and happily and contentedly and lovingly submit to the Will of the Lord of the Heavens and the Earth.”

Our fundamental duty is to return to Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala, with a whole heart. In this khutba, Yahya Rhodus looks at several verses in Sura Al-Imran (3:133-136) that provide guidance on how to do so.

Yahya places a special emphasis on the virtue of pardoning those who have wronged us and gives practical steps on where to begin that process.

RAWHA

The Rawha takes place every Tuesday at 7:00pm EST. During the Rawha, Shaykh Yahya Rhodus will be covering the Hikam (Aphorisms) of Imam Ibn 'Ata'illah al-Iskandari.

Seminary Rawha

Linguistically related to the spirit (ruh), the Rawha is a class centered around Islamic spirituality. It explores the text-based tradition that outlines the spiritual path and aims to inspire seekers to both embark upon it and attain its realities.

The Seminary Rawha takes place Monday and Wednesday evenings
