UPCOMING PROGRAMS
﷽
Assalamu 'Alaykum,
Al-Maqasid is pleased to announce our next Community BBQ, to be hosted on Saturday, August 31st 1 pm to 5 pm inshaAllah. We will also hold a special Faculty Appreciation for our Al-Maqasid teachers.
Please come out and join the community for a beautiful day of Suhba and togetherness. We will have jumpy houses for the kids (and adults at heart), and other fun activities. This is also a special event to honor and show appreciation to all our faculty. We look forward to a beautiful afternoon spent in each other's company for His sake.
Additionally, please consider signing up to bring a dish to share: https://tinyurl.com/almaqasidbbq-aug2024
Please join us on Saturday August 31st at 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM for our Wayfarers to God - A Sisters Series on Suluk with Sayyida Nejma Davis at Al-Maqasid in the Green Barn.
Childcare is available (in the Ribat Basement) for women who would like to attend the class.
'Wayfarers to God: A Sister’s Series on Suluk' by Habib Ali Al-Jifri, facilitated by Sayyida Nejma Davis, serves as a comprehensive guide for all those on a journey of Spiritual Wayfaring or Suluk. Rooted in principles of self-reflection and sincere effort, this lecture series gently navigates the intricacies of understanding the nafs (ego) and the detrimental impact it can have. Habib Ali Al-Jifri sheds light on the path to liberating oneself from the nafs, delving into the exploration of base desires, evil inclinations, and diseases of the heart. His approach resonates deeply, permeating the soul and igniting a call to action.
Reminder this is a ladies (16+) only class.
Next Heart to Heart will be on Sunday, September 8th in the Green Barn at 10:30 AM.
Heart to Heart is a monthly discussion over coffee and brunch. We seek to come together as a community and discuss topics related to Islamic spirituality.
Our discussions are centered around the book ‘The Path of the Worshipful Servants' by Imam al-Ghazali, which is a unique book that discusses the ways to overcome the obstacles on the spiritual path.
For parents with young children, we kindly urge you to include your blessed children only if they can sit quietly next to you.

Please join us on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 1:00 PM for Al-Maqasid’s Annual Loving the Beloved Celebration ﷺ commemorating the gift of mercy and guidance in the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
Our program will include counsels that are aimed at connecting the listener to the Prophet ﷺ, his Sunna, and his teachings. The more we know about his life, character, and way, the more we will come to love and follow the one beloved to Allah.
Alongside the Mawlid talks, we will have children's activities, followed by Maghrib prayer and dinner.

MEDIA HIGHLIGHTS
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said,
“If people knew the virtues in the call to prayer and the first row of prayer and that they could not get it but by drawing lots, they would surely draw lots. If they knew the virtue in joining prayer at the beginning of its time, they would race to it. If they knew the virtue in prayer at evening and at dawn, they would surely come even if they had to crawl.”
(Sahih Bukhari)

LOVING THE BELOVED ﷺ
This weekly Majlis includes a recitation of the prophetic biography in poetry form followed by a counsel intended to connect the listener to the Prophet ﷺ and his teachings. The more we know about his life, character, and way, the more we will come to love and follow the one beloved to Allah.
Becoming Vessels of Divine Mercy - Yahya Rhodus
A heart filled with sincerity, humility, and a deep connection to Allah can serve as a conduit for divine blessings and mercy, not just for oneself but for the entire community.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "The merciful are shown mercy by the Most Merciful. Be merciful on the earth, and you will be shown mercy from above" (Sunan Tirmidhi). When we embody mercy, compassion, and love, we align ourselves with the divine qualities that attract Allah's mercy.
JUMU’A KHUTBA
The weekly Jumu'a, or Friday, Congregational prayer is live streamed from Al-Maqasid from 12:15pm-1:10pm.
Establishing The Prayer - Yusuf Weltch
"The first thing for which a person will be brought to account will be his Salah. If it is complete (all well and good), otherwise Allah will say: 'Look and see if My slave did any voluntary prayer.' If he is found to have done voluntary prayers, his obligatory prayers will be completed therewith."
Allah Ta’ala commands us in the Quran to “establish the prayer.” [see, e.g., Quran 20:14, 29:45]
In this khutba, Yusuf Weltch explains what it means to “establish the prayer” and why it is so important to do so, including explaining the difference between a prayer being valid and being accepted. He then concludes with several practical measures that one can do before, during, and after the prayer that will help to establish it.
RAWHA
The Rawha takes place every Tuesday at 7:00pm EST. During the Rawha, Shaykh Yahya Rhodus will be covering the Hikam (Aphorisms) of Imam Ibn 'Ata'illah al-Iskandari.
