Last week, Brother Latif Abdul-Shakoor from Allentown, PA, passed away. The Janāza prayer was held at MALV.

We ask Allah ta‘ālā to envelop Sidi Latif’s soul in His limitless mercy, and to provide every source of comfort and solace to the Abdul-Shakoor family during this difficult time.

˹Allah will say to the righteous,˺ “O tranquil soul! Return to your Lord, well pleased ˹with Him˺ and well pleasing ˹to Him˺. So join My servants, and enter My Paradise.” ~Qur’ān 89:27-30

“Glory be to the One Who took His servant by night from the Sacred Mosque to the Farthest Mosque whose surroundings We have blessed, so that We may show him some of Our signs.” [Quran 17:1]

Of the most significant events that occurred in the life of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was the Isra’ wa’l Mi‘raj (the Night Journey and Heavenly Ascent). On this night, the Prophet’s heart ﷺ was washed and he traveled to Jerusalem where he led all the Prophets and Messengers in prayer. He then ascended the seven heavens, arrived at the Furthest Lote Tree, and was entered into the Divine Presence where Allah the Exalted honored him and granted his Umma the five daily prayers.

Please join us on Saturday, February 10th (4:00pm-9:00pm) for our Annual Isra' & Mi'raj commemoration as we delve deeper into this most blessed event. We will be joined by esteemed guests Dr. Shadee Elmasry and Imam Tom Facchine.

Registration for the Isra' & Mi'raj event is not required if you are already registered for the upcoming weekend retreat.

Al-Maqasid Seminary is providing information sessions in order to answer student questions and provide a more in-depth presentation of our program. If you are interested in applying for this program or have already applied, we encourage you to sign up for an info session to attend.

Our next information session will be on March 6th at 7 PM EST.

This weekly Majlis includes a recitation of the prophetic biography in poetry form followed by a counsel intended to connect the listener to the Prophet ﷺ and his teachings. The more we know about his life, character, and way, the more we will come to love and follow the one beloved to Allah.

In this extremely important khutba, Omar Amir discusses Sura al-Hujurat (49:1-18) and the lessons it teaches about adab (etiquette, good manners, noble character). He mentions the three types of adab, explains the high value Islam places on adab, and highlights selected verses, focusing on their relevance in these times. He ends with a beautiful true story about “the language of adab.”
