What obligations does a Muslim have towards the month of Rabi al Awwal? - Habib Umar bin Hafiz

Allah the al-Mighty has chosen the month of Rabi al Awwal for the birth of his prophet our master Muhammad ﷺ. And this alone is enough for a believer to realise that he must reestablish the meanings of believing in him and upholding him within himself. And he must reflect upon his relationship with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. That he expresses the utmost happiness with the birth of his Prophet ﷺ and his arrival to this world.

The first connection with him in this world is through his blessed birth..it was the beginning of a life of which Allah swore by in the Quran saying: ((By your life! (O' Muhammad) they are still dwelling in there drunkenness))
And this blessed life began when his mother delivered him. So we know it is a glorified life by the glorification of Allah exalted be Him in the Quran.

Hence, a believer must remind himself of the birth of the chosen one ﷺ in likes of this month. And he restablishes within himself that strong connection with the chosen one through having faith, believing, loving, and following him ﷺ. And he expresses this connection with all permissible expressions, such as gathering in remembrance of Allah, and gathering ones family to read the Sirah and story of his birth (mawlid) and by feeding people as well with whatever one can, and other means of expression of ones following of the chosen one ﷺ and ones happiness with him ﷺ.

Also it has been narrated in the Sunnah (hadith) that singing Poetry in praise of him is an act of gaining closeness to Allah exalted be He. And the best of the companions and the generations that followed them by excellent example until this very day have all gained closeness to Allah by the means of praising our master Muhammad ﷺ, whom Allah Himself has praised and honoured. By knowing all of this its obligatory upon every believer, every Monday generally and in Rabi al Awwal specifically to have good remembrance of this great blessing from Allah, the appearance and birth of the chosen one ﷺ.
