Sighting the Moon

Assalam ‘Alaykum dear community,

Please join us Friday evening 20 minutes before Maghrib at Hills at Lockridge Bandshell, 7100 Scenic View Drive, Macungie. We will be up on the hill looking to the west to fulfill the collective obligation of attempting to sight the crescent moon for Dhu al-Qadah.

While the moon is not expected to be visible from Pennsylvania, we are going out as a group with the intention of following the sunnah of the Prophet (SAWS), as he (SAWS) said, “The best of Allah’s servants are those who observe the new moons and shadows as a way of remembering Allah.” -Related by Imam al-Hakim.
