ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW
Al-Maqasid Islamic Seminary is dedicated to cultivating the next
generation of Muslim scholars by providing a comprehensive
holistic education in Islamic sciences, such as theology and
jurisprudence, and classical Arabic. Our mission is to foster a
balanced understanding of Islamic teachings and prepare students
for a life of service to the community and advanced degrees at
esteemed institutions.


POSITION SUMMARY
The Al-Maqasid Arabic Instructor will be responsible for teaching the
Seminary students Arabic across all years using the Al-Maqasid
curriculum. This instruction encompasses teaching them grammar,
morphology, rhetoric, poetry, and classical Arabic literature
appropriate for their level. The Arabic Instructor may be asked to
teach classes for Al-Maqasid Madrasa or Academy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching:

  1. Conduct Arabic language classes using the Al-Maqasid curriculum focusing on grammar, morphology, rhetoric, poetry, and classical literature

  2. Utilize traditional Islamic texts and integrate modern digital tools for both in-person and online classes

  3. Teach at the Seminary, Academy (high school), Madrasa (elementary school), and general community

  4. Maintain typical teaching load of twenty hours a week throughout the year

Curriculum Development:

  1. Develop lesson plans and student assessments in alignment with the seminary’s educational goals

  2. Collaborate with colleagues to contribute to program development, assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives

  3. Stay current with advancements in their discipline

Administrative Duties

  1. Evaluate and track student progress in various settings through regular assessments, attendance tracking, grading, meetings, and feedback

  2. Serve as student advisor

  3. Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the administrative functions of the seminary

  4. Develop a plan for professional growth and maintain a scholarly trajectory with focused program of research and publication as appropriate to their discipline

  5. Pursue ongoing professional and religious development

  6. Engage in research, as needed, and represent Al-Maqasid at academic conferences/seminars

Community Engagement

  1. Leading congregational prayers and facilitate religious gatherings as needed

  3. Participate in outreach trips with instructors and staff to promote holistic Islamic education


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Verified religious licenses (Ijazas) to teach various Islamic sciences, especially the Arabic language

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (Ijazas)

  • Mastery of Arabic and fluency in English

  • Ability to integrate religious teachings with Arabic language instruction

  • Strong knowledge of the Arabic sciences and classical Arabic literature and poetry

  • Strong commitment to the mission and values of Al-Maqasid Islamic Seminary

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively with administration, staff, and students

  • Dedication to fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment.

  • Ability to teach courses across various modalities (in-person, online, etc.)

  • Comply with all Al-Maqasid policies outlined in the HR handbook

  • Establish positive instructor-student relationships with effective communication in formal and informal settings

  • Serve as a professional role model for students in their academic and religious pursuits

SCHEDULE AND LOCATION

Standard seminary classes are conducted in person, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Al-Maqasid campus in Macungie, PA. Additional seminars/courses may be scheduled during evenings and/or weekends. Occasional travel may be required.


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary is to be determined, commensurate with experience. A benefits package includes eligibility for an annual performance-based bonus, paid holidays, sick leave, and parental leave.
