AL-MAQASID WEEKLY | FEBRUARY 26, 2024

Allah ﷻ says, We have sent you ˹O Prophet˺ only as a deliverer of good news and a warner to all of humanity, but most people do not know. [Quran 34:28]

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has also said, "Convey on my behalf, even if only one verse." [Bukhari]

We are pleased to invite you to Al-Maqasid's Annual Benefit Dinner, Living the Prophetic Concern. Continuing to root sacred knowledge within these lands requires a deep appreciation for the Prophetic duty to convey this message to all of humanity. We are honored to host Dr. Shadee Elmasry as our keynote speaker for the evening.

Date: March 2, 2024

Time: 3:30pm - 6:30pm

Venue: Al-Maqasid Campus (Macungie, PA)

Please join us as we reflect on the milestones of the past year and discuss ways to collectively actualize our long term vision of the realization of Iman, Islam, and Ihsan. We deeply appreciate your prayers and continued support, and hope that you can join us for what we hope will be a very blessed occasion.

The Greatest Intention in Receiving Ramadan

There are many intentions that we can make in receiving Ramadan. What is the greatest single intention? Answered by Habib Umar bin Hafiz (may Allah protect him and benefit us by him)

We intend to perfect our following of the best person who ever experienced Ramadan, the one by whom Ramadan was ennobled ﷺ. There is no greater or more comprehensive intention than this. We should be keen to implement as much of his Sunnah as we are able. We should be conscious that we are emulating him in both obligatory and extra acts of worship and in customary actions. All types of good and all other intentions are combined in this intention.

This weekly Majlis includes a recitation of the prophetic biography in poetry form followed by a counsel intended to connect the listener to the Prophet ﷺ and his teachings. The more we know about his life, character, and way, the more we will come to love and follow the one beloved to Allah.

REMEMBERING the Beloved ﷺ - Yahya Rhodus

"Prayer itself orients and situates us, just as these gatherings do. Every time we come together, it is an opportunity for us to realign, to reset, to remind ourselves of what is truly important.”

Attaining the love of allah - amjad tarsin

“The ultimate peak, pinnacle, and goal of all religious experience on the spiritual path is to attain the love of Allah, to be granted our Creator's love, and His everlasting, permanent pleasure.”

The Hikam: Lesson 81 "The Pitfalls of Receiving from Creation" Hikma 88

Linguistically related to the spirit (ruh), the Rawha is a weekly class centered around Islamic spirituality. It explores the text-based tradition that outlines the spiritual path and aims to inspire seekers to both embark upon it and attain its realities.

Nisf Sha'ban

On Saturday, February 24th, we gave life to the blessed night of the 15th of Sha'ban. We spent time in the recitation of the Quran and turned to Allah in du’a, followed by a few talks.

In a hadith narrated by Ahmad, Tirmidhi and others, our mother 'Aisha narrated that the Prophet ﷺ told her, that on the fifteenth night of Sha`ban, Allah forgives more people than the number of hairs on the sheep of the tribe Kalb (which was an Arab tribe renowned for their great flocks of sheep).

The Companions and Tabiʿīn also regularly spent this night in worship and devotion.
